Whether you think you can, whether you think you can’t, you are right! – Henry Ford
One of the greatest ‘yes, I can’ people I know proves the attitude in a spectacular manner.
Rajesh Durbal was born with bones missing in both legs and a very underdeveloped right arm.
In his first year of life both of his legs were amputated, so he became a triple amputee with just one full limb- his left arm.
During his early life he struggled with his disability but in 2009 he made an incredible decision: he chose to demonstrate to himself and the world what was possible with an energy, determination and level of self-belief like no other!
He spent hours and hours building and modifying prosthetic limbs to prepare to run a 5km race. This was merely a stepping stone because just one year after setting his goal – (a year of training days and nights, of building and maintaining his prosthetics), he competed in and finished the Hawaii Ironman race. Never heard of Ironman? It is a 2.4 mile ocean swim followed by a 112 mile cycle ride, followed by a full 26.2 mile run.
Rajesh completed this in 14 hours 19 minutes and 13 seconds. Now that is what I call a ‘yes I can’ attitude!
So repeat after me:
“Can I run a successful business? ………………Yes, I can”
“Can I write a bestselling book? …………………Yes, I can”
“Can I be a great parent? …………………………….Yes, I can”
“Can I run a marathon? ………………………………Yes, I can”
“Can I get an MBA? ………………………………………Yes, I can”
Can’t never achieved anything.
